Damage From Tornadoes in Springfield
These are scenes of utter chaos left behind by the tornadoes that hit Springfield on June 1st. This damage was done all around the animal shelter and left the shelter still standing, although with a badly damaged roof; rooftop HVAC units; windows; ceilings; trees and fences. None of the animals were hurt during the storm and they were evacuated to other animal shelters so animal victims from the storm could be housed.
I'm sure the staff on duty during the tornadoes were terrified. We are not accustomed to tornadoes here in the North East.
This series of tornadoes has left the area looking like a war zone and many residents homeless or without power even now. The shelter is running but not at it's normal capacity. They have some power but no gas to run the washing machines or dryer and there is no hot water. I'm told they have some air conditioning in sections and some computers are up and running now.
There is no time line for when things will be restored to normal...or as normal as they can be with all the destruction surrounding them.
